opportunities for shared discovery

Jordan Young is an Atlanta-based artist and arts leader serving to cultivate public creativity, connect artists with communities, and develop sustainable infrastructure for the arts and independent media across the South.

Drawing from a multidisciplinary background spanning media production, stage performance, and interactive design, his arts practice develops participatory environments where creative risk-taking is rewarded and individual expression weaves into collective artistic outcomes. He has most recently been awarded a Creative Residency Fellowship at the Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences as well as the Fulton County Distinguished Fellowship for the Arts.

For fifteen years, Jordan has driven innovative programming that advances the arts with technology and encourages deeper collaboration across communities, organizations, and the public. Through passionate direction of regional programming including the Southern Circuit of Independent Filmmakers and management of partnerships with the National Endowment for the Arts, PBS, and Sundance Institute, he has invested in the careers of hundreds of artists and supported art as a conduit for change in dozens of communities.

Motion PhotoGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Tuesday, January 30, 2024

Fulton County Arts & Culture Public Art Futures Lab

Photography is known for freezing a moment, but it’s also great for reconstructing time in completely different ways. Explore the power of lining up a bunch of images really fast so it looks like the horse is running. Between his work with movement artists and the nightlife scene, Atlanta artist Jordan Young is almost always capturing and depicting movement through photography. Learn his techniques for stopping, reanimating, stretching, and looping time so you too can make that horse run—backwards even. This class is great for amateur and established photographers interested in incorporating motion into their work as well as anyone seeking better understanding of the playspace between photo and video.
