Tethered Together

The entanglements that limit us are also gateways to discovering new ways of being in concert with one another.

Drawing inspiration from anchors, house music, and dance cyphers, Tethered Together is an interactive performance installation that playfully explores the generative boundaries of our creative interdependence. A central tower serves as the anchoring point for dancers and a series of tethered instruments wielded by public participants. This network of bodies collectively shapes the audiovisual environment, carefully collaborating—or wreaking chaos—in real time.

Tethered Together is a collaboration by Meg Gourley, Andre Lumpkin, and Jordan Young, initially developed as part of DanceATL’s A.M. Collaborative program. Special thanks to DanceATL, Decatur School of Ballet, Atlanta Green Theater Alliance, and Fly on a Wall.
